What is an Adjustment?
The adjustment is a treatment procedure performed by a Chiropractor; it can be done by hand or with a tool or instrument. The purpose of the adjustment is to restore proper motion and alignment to the joints and thereby stimulate nerve receptors lining the joints and associated muscles and ligaments. As a consequence, pain symptoms are typically alleviated and the recovery time reduced.
Our clinic specializes in the Activator method, the instrument delivers between 10-40 lbs of pressure, depending on the instrument setting and the area being adjusted. This gentle impulse force oftentimes feels much lighter than the typical manual adjustment because the thrust from an Activator instrument is focused over a smaller area with a velocity that is up to 200 times faster than a manual thrust delivered by hand.
In terms of effectiveness, the majority of research studies have shown that both approaches produce excellent results in terms of patient care and recovery. Both forms of adjusting are very safe with extremely low risk of injury and side effects.

The body’s natural pain-relieving neurohormones through the insertion of needles into specific anatomical points (acupuncture points) to encourage natural healing. Acupuncture needles are rounded at the tip so that they slide smoothly through tissue and are unlikely to cause bleeding with the tickness of a thin hair. Needles are left in place for 15 to 30 minutes during which time the practitioner may manipulate the needles in order to strengthen or reduce the flow of Qi.

Custom Orthotics

We understand the importance of educating you on the most effective ways to take care of your body so that you can recover quickly. A custom orthotic is only as good as the shoe it goes into as the shoe provides the foundation for the orthotic. If your orthotic does not have a proper foundation it will not be able to function properly.

Dr. Sarah Ji-Hyun Kim is a Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctor and Registered Acupuncturist. She graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Science degree; after graduation, she completed a four-year program at the Alberta College of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. She loves travelling to new places and learning more techniques to help people achieve optimum well-being and healthy life. Dr. Ji-Hyun Kim’s training includes acupuncture, motor point/trigger point acupuncture, electro-acupuncture, cupping, herbal medicine and dietary and lifestyle therapy. Acupuncture is inserting a hair-thin needle into the acupuncture points with the appropriate combination, to bring the energy flow back into proper balance. It is placed where nerves, muscles and connective tissue can be stimulated and increases blood flow while at the same time triggering the activity of the body’s natural painkiller endorphins. Motor point/Trigger point acupuncture is different from regular acupuncture where it reset contracted muscle to restore joints to their normal function while reducing or eliminating pain and tendonitis in very few treatments.
